Christmas Recap

Happy New Year to all of you!!!!

What a wonderful, fantastically relaxing Christmas break! I had so much fun and enjoyed it so much that coming back to work today was so incredibly difficult.

I left my memory card at home, so I’ll have to do pictures tomorrow.

Christmas Eve was a pretty good day…my one sister had come in from Michigan the night before and my dad had come in earlier that day. So on Christmas Eve day we ran some errands and started cooking. My other sister and mom came in late afternoon and we headed to church at 6:00. After church we came home and made a great prime rib dinner. After that the kids opened presents from my family and each other. Then they went off to bed and we went to work getting the presents under the tree. Hubby and my sister went down and set up the train table and dollhouse for the kids. Then we all headed up to bed.

Hubby and I got up before everyone and started making some food so that when everyone got up we were ready to go. My daughter came down the stairs and opened up her stocking and just kept staring at the tree! I don’t think she realized that we would get to open all of those presents (and trust me, there were a ton! My mom still does Santa for all of us) because she never once asked if she could open anything. My son didn’t wake up until about an hour later, so that gave everyone time to shower and get ready before diving into the gifts.

We had a blast opening everything! My daughter just kept saying “I need another one” and my son was happy playing with the toy he opened. After all the Santa gifts were opened we stopped and had a wonderful brunch. I made cooked-to-order omelets and some bacon and sausage. After that the kids went up for a nap (it was about 2:00 at this point). Then my family and I all exchanged gifts.

Around 3:30 hubby’s family started rolling in and my family left. I started cooking for hubby’s family and we all just hung out and played with the kids. After we exchanged gifts hubby and I took over a surprise gift for my sister-in-law. She’s the one that does everyone’s hair and is awesome! She colors and cuts my hair every six weeks, cuts my daughter’s hair periodically (she wants it long) and cuts hubby and my son’s hair every three weeks and never charges us a dime. Let me rephrase that…she won’t take any money from us. So we decided to buy her something she’s wanted for a very long time but has never bought herself…a laptop. I’ve never seen such gratitude and shock before. Seriously, I don’t think she has any idea how much we appreciate what she does for us…she really looks at it as part of her job and that she’s not doing anything special. I’m glad she loved it and at least now I feel like we’ve given something back to her.

OK, it’s getting late and I have a TON of stuff to do, so I’ll recap the rest of my break tomorrow :)

That sounds wonderful!
Can't wait to see pictures.

The best part about giving gifts is giving that one thing that just wows whoever is receiving it.
A few years ago we gave Bri's mom snowshoes for her birthday and she cried. It was so awesome to know that we got her just what she wanted.

Oh, and my Mom still does Santa for all of us too! I don't know what I would do if she stopped now ;)
