Last night was so much fun! Hubby and I left work early so that we were home in plenty of time to get our food ready and the kids in their costumes and ready to go. I had so much fun doing my daughter’s hair and make-up – she was Elina from Fairytopia and her eye shadow was so cool! We did a rainbow of colors and then glitter around her eyes and on her lips. Then I put a butterfly on her cheek. She was so proud of how she looked!
We carried on our potluck tradition from our old neighborhood where everyone on the cul-de-sac brings out some food and we all sit there and talk and the kids can come up and get candy out of our bowls and the adults can help themselves to any food if they want. While it wasn’t quite the same because we really miss some of our old neighbors, it was still a lot of fun. Hubby had the fire pit out and all of the court neighbors came out to hang out. My mom and my sister and her boyfriend also came over for the evening, which was really nice.
I took the kids around our little neighborhood (about 15 houses) and then we came back, grabbed some food and headed over to the other section of our neighborhood that’s across the street. The kids did pretty well…my son walked so slow until I got smart and told him to be like Buzz, so he’d put his arms out like he was flying and say “to infinity and beyond!” I was also very impressed that he went the whole trick-or-treat time without going potty and without any accidents! He also pooped in the potty 4 times yesterday!!! I guess that dinner from the night before really kicked things into gear :)
The only thing that made me a little upset was that there were some adults that dressed up in really scary costumes and were walking around. My daughter gets scared very easily, and it was still really light out in the beginning and she saw some pretty scary costumes. I just didn’t think it was necessary for them to be just walking around when all the little kids were out. But she didn’t have any nightmares last night, so I guess she was OK.
Here are some pictures…it was hard getting them to pose, so there weren’t too many good ones. It was neat…our neighbor’s little boy was Woody and we didn’t even know that’s what he was going to dress up as, so “Buzz and Woody” were inseparable all night!
Here's a video of my son being Buzz Lightyear!

cute. and congrats on the bathroom thing!and that sounds like a great idea to do the pot luck
So glad the dinner worked for your son the night before!! ;)
The kids look adorable all dressed up in their costumes!! I love their trick or treat buckets too!!
Looks like you all had a nice time. Sometimes I think adults are idiots - either they don't have kids or have older kids and forget how Scared little kids get. I agree - if you want to dress up scary go to an adult halloween party.
Horray for pooping :)
The kids look so adorable...sounds like everyone had a nice night!
Love the pics!!! Your kids are so cute!
I wish I lived in your neighborhood! It sounds like so much fun! Ours is great too, but we don't really get together after the summer.
That video was adorable!!
Glad it was a good time and glad he pooped finally...!
The makeup and glitter are inspired. I would never have thought of them.
