This morning on two different news shows, I saw the story about how Leap Frog has come out with this new toy that looks just like a smart phone. On each of the shows the people were talking about how bad it was going to be to let your child get addicted to a "phone" so early...and what kind of an example are we?
Give me a freaking break!
Toy manufacturers have made kid-friendly remotes, keys, purses, tools...you name it. Why? Because kids want to be just like mommy and daddy and want to play with things that have buttons and make noise. And I don't know about you, but John and I are attached to our phones (and while I don't have a Blackberry, I do have a Palm Treo so it's very similar-looking). Our kids watch movies on our phones and play games...so why the heck would I not want them to have one of their own so they will leave mine alone?
Technology is moving forward at light speed...and our kids are naturally going to be at the front of it, if not ahead of it.
And just for the record, I LOVE Leap Frog products! Their refrigerator letters and their videos taught both of my kids their letters, and their new Tag reading system is awesome!
So I say more power to them! And you had better believe that when this comes out this summer, at least two of my three kids will have it!

Well I am with you on this 110%. I think like with everything it's not the product it's the parents. If a parent ignores their kids and they let them do all the games etc it's not the toy's, games , tv's etc fault.
Your house is well balanced, full of love, you do family things etc so what is the harm in your two having one of those neat toys? NOTHING!!!!
This country has to start looking at things in a different light. Parents be parents, not your kids "buddies" but teach the children to do things in moderation and all would be aok!!!

I totally agree with you on this. I have had leap frog product since my oldest was born and have loved every one of them.
Alyssa got the Tag system for Christmas and so far loves it. They've both had remotes, keys, etc and I have no problem with it.
Our kids are growing up in a completely different world, and it scares some people. We fully embrace it however, and Lilly has been using a computer for a good couple of years, plays with our iPhones etc, so I would have no problem letting her have something like this.
I don't know if it makes a difference or not but Hubby & I tend to be on the younger side of a lot of parents. Consequently we grew up always playing on the news game consoles, had cell phones early on in high school, and so on. Even now with Hubby being in IT, we always has to have the latest gadget in our house. To us it isn't a big deal and just a part of life, and it is the same way with Lilly now to. (I hope that makes sense).
