John and I have a lot of dreams, which I think is so important for every married couple. We have short-term dreams (get to the gym regularly, get enough sleep, teach Ryan to walk, etc.) and long-term dreams (raise our kids, watch them graduate college, watch them get married, enjoy retirement, etc.). One of our middle-term dreams is to have a patio and deck built in our backyard.
We built our house with a big builder in our city (one I’m pretty attached to :) ). So while we could have added a deck when it was built, 1.) that wouldn’t have been smart as the land was still settling, and they advised us to wait three years before doing that, and 2.) it would have been a very cookie-cutter patio/deck, which is not what we want.
So we waited. And now with everything the kids are into, and with the economy in general, we have decided that it would not be wise to have one built in the super near future. So we dream. We dream of a deck coming off of our house, which then goes down to a patio. We dream of being able to eat dinner in the summer on a beautiful deck as opposed to our driveway or front porch (we can be such hillbillies!). And most of all, I dream of a place to relax! I love fire pit tables…I could have one with chairs around it and people could sit and relax! The fire pit table would let us roast our marshmallows and hot dogs and have a place to set our drinks and food. And what would be really awesome would be a dining height fire pit table…that way we could pull chairs around and eat our food with a beautiful fire glowing in the middle.
But for now we dream. And someday we will have our place of relaxation in the backyard.

Dreams are good and see you always have something to plan out w/ hubby. We waited quite a few years before our deck and pool happened, but know what , we appreciate it that much more!!!
